SOS , Koronis , and Maria Family Asteroids : Infrared ( JHK ) Photometry

چکیده
isfrared photometry at 1,2, 1.6, and 2.2pm (JHK) is reported 56 asteroids in the Em, Koronis and, Maria dynamiwd famij. These data are consistent with a simi!ar surface composition all of the asteroids of each family. The infrared CO1OS-S within :h family cluster in the region observed for the S taxonomic SS, but Em asteroids may belong to a separable K class. Aster243 Ida, which was observed by the Galileo spacecraft, is a )ical member of the Koronis family. The average infrared colors the Maria family are slightly redder than those of the Eos and ronis families. O 1994 Acadcmlc Pre?s, k.

Near-Infrared Photometry of Irregular Satellites of Jupiter and Saturn
We present JHK s photometry of 10 Jovian and 4 Saturnian irregular satellites, taken with the Near-InfraRed Imager (NIRI) at the 8-m Gemini North Observatory on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The observed objects have near-infrared colors consistent with C, P and D-type asteroids, although J XII Ananke and S IX Phoebe show weak indications of possible water features in the H filter. The four members of the...
متن کاملYarkovsky footprints in the Eos family
The Eos asteroid family is the third most populous, after Themis and Koronis, and one of the largest non-random groups of asteroids in the main belt. It has been known and studied for decades, but its structure and history still presented difficulties to understand. We first revise the Eos family identification as a statistical cluster in the space of proper elements. Using the most to-date cat...
متن کاملRed, Gray, and Blue: Near Infrared Spectrophotometryof Faint Moons of Uranus and Neptune
Using the CoCo Cold Coronagraph at NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility on Mauna Kea, we observed the uranian satellites Miranda, Puck, Portia, and Rosalind and the neptunian satellite Proteus in the near infrared (JHK) to determine the albedos of those faint satellites. In V-J, all of Puck, Portia, Rosalind, and Proteus are very blue, similar to the colors of many icy satellites and of water ice...
متن کاملOrdinary Chondrite Micrometeorites from the Koronis Asteroids
Introduction: Micrometeorites (MMs) are large (>25 µm) interplanetary dust particles that survive atmospheric entry to be recovered from the Earth's surface. Amongst those particles that escaped significant heating during atmospheric entry two groups have been identified [1]: (i) fine-grained MMs (fgMMs), which are similar to the fine-grained matrices of hy-drated carbonaceous chondrites (CCs),...
متن کاملThe impact of main belt asteroids on infrared – submillimetre photometry and source counts ( Research Note )
Context. Among the components of the infrared and submillimetre sky background, the closest layer is the thermal emission of dust particles and minor bodies in the Solar System. This contribution is especially important for current and future infrared and submillimetre space instruments – like those of Spitzer, Akari and Herschel – and must be characterised by a reliable statistical model. Aims...
